Nynke Vellinga: 'Unclear how Geneva and Vienna conventions, which govern traffic regulations in most countries, can be changed to accommodate driverless cars'

The ITS World Congress kicked off in Copenhagen amid a general sense of optimism about the opportunities provided by new technologies to make public and private mobility smarter. At the same time, participants at the annual event focused on the barriers to implementation, setting the stage for five days of discussions that are expected to cover every aspect of today's transportation revolution. With regard to the regulatory environment, Nynke Vellinga, who is doing advanced research on the legal aspects of the AV revolution at the University of Groningen, said on AutomotiveIT: 'This is ultimately a political issue.'

Dimitry Kochenov: 'No reasons to believe that Polish government is turning in context of long-term approach to judicial independence'

Despite expectations to the contrary, the European Commission decided not to refer the Polish Supreme Court law to the EU's top court on Wednesday (19 September), following a meeting of EU affairs ministers that heard Poland's arguments on Tuesday. But it does not necessarily mean a detente is on the cards. Dimitry Kochenov, professor of EU constitutional law at the University of Groningen, told EURACTIV "In the end, we have only one institution in Europe that is potentially able to change the situation for the better and that is the Court of Justice of the European Union."

Groningen Again Named Among Top 10 Places in the World to Study Energy Law

LLM-Guide.com recently released its Top 10 List of Energy Law LLM Programmes for 2018, which again lists Groningen as a top destination to study energy law. Groningen's mentioned programmes include its LLM in Energy and Climate Law, and it participation in the North Sea Energy Law Programme (NSELP).

Presentatie boek over archeologisch onderzoek De Onlanden

Zuidelijk van de stad Groningen ligt een geliefd natuurgebied: De Onlanden. Het Groninger Instituut voor Archeologie van de RUG heeft hier afgelopen jaren uitgebreid onderzoek gedaan.
